LUBRICATION OIL FILTERS

Visual Differences

Missing Gaskets. For good filtration, oil must flow through the media. In this case oil can pass around this hard plastic spacer on the "A" filter. The RE57394 is sealed directly to the end plate.

Pleat Spacing. Even consistent pleat spacing assures maximum use of media surface area resulting in more filtering capacity. Where the ends of the paper meet John Deere uses a metal clip to assure that dirty oil will not by-pass the element.

Cardboard End Caps. Cardboard end caps! A picture is worth a thousand words. No question which filter has more paper and more dirt holding capacity.

Centre Tube Strength. The centre tube provides the strength needed to hold the media in place, preventing collapse. John Deere filters use a spiral design to give superior strength. Many competitive filters do not.

Missing Gaskets. No gasket under by-pass valve! Dirty oil can cycle through unfiltered. The JD T19044 by-pass valve is built-in.

Anti-drain back valve. The T19044 drawing specifically states "no anti-drain back valve". Should this anti-drain back valve fail, oil flow to critical engine parts would be cut off causing severe damage.

Spring Strength. Internal gaskets can seal only as good as the spring applying pressure to internal components. The T19044 has a heavy spring compared to sheet metal and a light duty spring.

ISO Specifications. Although visually both seem to be presenting the same information, AR43634 is stating:

  1. Capacity is 34 grams minimum
  2. Efficiency is 75% of 30 micron size particles
  3. Rupture is greater than 120 psid
  4. Can burst if greater than 220 psid. Few competitive filters provide performance data.

Can Strength. Purchased for testing, these filters were received with dents. Damaged most likely in shipping, these would be hard to sell to customers.

Sludge Removal. Internal design differences are obvious. The disk pack in RE44647 provides superior removal of sludge. In fact, the design allows RE44647 to hold 14 times more sludge than one competitor!

LUBE FILTERS

Test Differences

All John Deere Lube Filters meet the specifications established by John Deere engineers for John Deere engines. Each engine series has its own requirement for protection and performance. Protection and performance you can’t see… and with competitive filters you never know what you are going to get!
